Paragraphs 1-I’m Diya Somnali. I was 12 when I made this organization. My great passions in life are my dogs and Pokémon, and reading with my friends. I was 11 when school went online. I was excited, because I thought it meant less work from the comfort of my own home. Boy, was I wrong. Online school was the hardest year and a half of school I’ve ever gone through. There was a huge workload and a distinct lack of communication. Also, I had a bookclub with my two oldest friends before the pandemic, and we went online during quarantine. But due to the stress of online school, we met less and less. I wanted an easier way for us to meet, so I worked with my father and my brother to create my first website, bookwormz. At the time, I was sure this was my life’s greatest work, my magnum opus. But as the pandemic wound down, I realized that I wanted a local way for us to help children bond over a love for reading. And thus, ORC was born.
